Gotthard BIO Pilze AG is a family-owned Swiss mushroom producer rooted in tradition and shaped by innovation. What began as a mixed farm of dairy, poultry and pigs evolved in 1993 when Paul Lussi introduced oyster mushroom cultivation, long before gourmet mushrooms became mainstream in Switzerland.
Today, the business is led by Alex Lussi, who joined the farm in 2005 and later expanded production into former ammunition bunkers and natural cave systems in Stansstad. These caves provide ideal growing conditions, with stable temperatures, high humidity and minimal environmental intervention, allowing mushrooms to grow as naturally as possible.
Producing under strict Bio Suisse guidelines, Gotthard BIO Pilze AG grows shiitake, pleurotus and button mushrooms, with seasonal variations depending on demand. Much of their substrate is now produced in-house, strengthening quality control and supporting a circular production model.
Active seven days a week and powered in part by solar energy, the team combines careful manual harvesting with resource-conscious operations. With steady, considered growth and deep respect for their mountain environment, Gotthard BIO Pilze AG represents Swiss precision, sustainability and long-term thinking in every harvest.
